About Anna
Anna Lewis is the author of two full-length poetry collections and two pamphlets. Her latest book is In Passing, described in New Welsh Review as a book which “defies expectations… moving and passionate”.
Her debut full-length collection, Other Harbours, was published by Parthian in 2012. The Blue Cell – poems on the lives of early medieval Welsh saints – came out from Rack Press in 2015, and A White Year – a long poem set over the course of a year in the Iron Age lake village at Glastonbury – was published by Maquette in 2017. It is described in Tears in the Fence as an “important small collection of poems… a terrific poem for these times”.
Anna Lewis has won several awards for her poetry, including the G.S. Fraser Prize, the Robin Reeves Prize and the Christopher Tower Prize, and her story ‘Fruit’ won the Orange/ Harper’s Bazaar short story competition. Her poems and stories have appeared widely in magazines including The Rialto, Agenda, Magma, The Moth, New Welsh Review and Poetry Wales. She holds a doctorate in archaeology, and is a Hay Festival Scritture Giovani fellow.
She lives in Cardiff.
